Was good.... Though it's a sad commentary on an action flick when one wants more than just an explosion. *sigh* Yea, I know, I'm an action flick snob.
Note - stay through the credits for the tag scene at the very end.
where I talk about the movie - so don't read if you don't want to be spoiled.
Enjoyable, but I actually wanted more action. I know, sad. But that's just me. All fights were pretty singular and often short, as after all, who can stand up very long to Wolverine? So they used lots of small squabbles and trash talk.
They seemed to like the use of slow-mo explosions over and over and over. Some pretty good blowing up stuff and destroying cars/helicopters/buildings/nuclear reactors!!!?
It also helped to have a X-men comic fan among our group.
corvis_corvax knew the history and some of the unmentioned extras that they just stuck in for fans, and if you don't catch it, you don't know what it is.
The good: shirtless and/or naked Hugh Jackman!! Oh baby! Let's just say they let him go around a lot without a shirt. Yea, they know what the draw is. Also, the opening montage of history for Logan is well done - as he moves through various wars. I also liked the relationship with Victor and how it started out and then changed as time went on.
The bad: over use of slow-mo explosions. More than one a movie is too many. I think there were 3... at least. I can take a slow-mo stalk away for the final climatic battle, but here it was, hey, chance to blow something up! Yea. Not many other actors could stand up to Wolverine's massive angst and screen presence. And the villain, while deceitful, just needed a bit more 'umph'.
