Day one wasn't an early start, but that was okay, I didn't really have super early – must be there early for panel needs today. And I'm home early (well, early is 9pm at con). I could have stayed and done the BBC shows they were showing at night – but I want to get to the con early – like god-awful early - tomorrow, so I wasn't going to temp fate.
I did get to the con early enough to snag a ticket for an author autograph signing. I hauled around three 'extra' books all day and only managed to get one signed. *sigh* But I DID get into the panel I really wanted to – the Whitecollar one! So all is good. Ran into
lordgloria and her sister unit in line at the same time, so the hour wait in line to get into the panel was cool, then there was a panel before it- but since I had panel peps, I could pop out on a bathroom pass to get my book signed and get back in time for my panel! And they even snagged me a ticket for the t-shirt that I missed! Whee for panel buds!
And we got a great seat for the panels – but I didn't bring my larger camera because I thought I'd be far back... so all my panel pics are from the Jumbotron. The great camera debate – my little digital is the one you need for taking any sorts of pictures in the dealers room – no lens cap, small lens, can be used with one hand, and small enough to hold against ones body when squeezing through crowds. However, it's not great at panel photos – that small lens. My other digital with its 20x zoom is great for panels! But SUCKS ROCKS in the dealers room – you often don't have two hands to fiddle with lens cap and holding it and it's not compact so you have a harder time trying to protect the camera in crowds. I might have to bite the weight and haul both around tomorrow. And my panel pics suck. I hope yours are much, much better
lordgloria *looks pitiful*
They really didn't talk about a whole lot in the Whitecollar panel. (Elizabeth) mentioned that she was out for the first 6 episodes with her baby's birth – so all her scenes were shot in LA by herself. She's going to be back on set now. They all mentioned that it's great working together and that they all get along great. There was a lot of joking around on the panel. Jeff Eastin (creator) had never heard of 'bromance'. Hah! Yea, keep telling yourself that bud. (Peter) said his favorite bits to film were his walk-n-talks with (Neal), and he also liked the board room discussions where all the cast is involved in solving something. I forgot what (Neal) said his favorite things to film were. They were all happy to be at con and a little nervous and excited at the same time. And people talked (Peter) into signing the Folgers song, which I guess is an in-joke. It was also in the blooper stuff they showed after the panel.
After the panel, and picking up the T-shirts, I wandered the dealers room some more, ran into my sister and niece & nephews and walked back and forth in the search for swag until I met up with
hotmarscube and we headed off to Cafe Diem to have a birthday dinner on my actual birthday! Then home.
The swag haul – you know – the Important stuff!! :) 1 poster tube, 1 keychain, a handful of buttons, 3 swag bags (one of which fell apart!), 2 t-shirts (from the panels), 4 lanyards, 4 chapter book samples, 4 magazines, a pile of postcards, 1 comic, 4 lei's (promoting Hawaii 5-0), 2 pictures with me in them (booth promos) insta printed and 8 books. Whew!

Gaslamp area in the afternoon

Tron cycle... and it's super dark, I know :(

Odin's throne!

Rabbits!

uh - trying to show you all the amount of Flat screens.... but hard to tell.

Really cool, huge statue... and her feet were WAY above my head! WTF? They WANTED everyone to look up her ass ? ? I would have liked to see the details closer.

I am so proud! I have one niece who's actually a FAN!! Here she is cosplaying with her buds. She's the one sticking her tounge out at me.

A sort decent Whitecollar panel pic

HORRIBLE picture - but cute enough to share. This is (Neal) whispering about what to sing - right after this (Peter) did the Folgers song.
