And where am I? - at the theater of course!
Blades of Glory - soooo funny! I love skating, and this was one huge pun from the get-go. I'm not usually a fan of Will Ferrell, but he was amusing in this, and hit every skating cliché. Even better, was the number of actual skating stars who did cameo's. Heh. I very much enjoyed. I will be getting the DVD.
300 - Well, I admit, I was not to sure of this, because, honestly, I really am not a fan of Frank Miller. (Let's not get into how much I HATED Sin City). That and I've seen the original movie of this battle in High School history (and liked it). So I was very wary, but went, because, well, work was HELL and I needed something bloody and action orientated :) This is a very visual movie, and even if some of the things were 'eh' (like the over done sex scene), it very much drew me in. I liked the look, and the whole feel of the battle, the imagery, the landscape, the strange creatures. Well done. Every bit was visual, from the slow mo flap of a bright red cloak, the spray of blood to the rush of bodies. Oh, and Xerxes was a Gou'ald. No kidding. Thinks he's a god, acts like a god and wears enough jewelry to buy small continents. We were all waiting for his eyes to glow. Hell - one the reviewers even compared him to Stargate's Jaye Davidson (Ra). Snicker.
Ghostrider - Nicolas Cage in tight black leather acting moody. Hmm... yea, I liked it. A lot. Lots of fun action, the afore mentioned Cage being moody, being moody with books, being moody at life. Heh. I'm easy.
Firehouse Dog - okay, I admit it, I have a weakness for Dog movies. Really. Luckily, even though all my local friends rolled their eyes at the possible mention of having to go to this with me - there are now little munchkins who WILL! Yay! Training up the next generation! :) This one hit all the right buttons - action hero DOG! (yes, not kidding), who gets 'lost' and found by a lonely kid who's single dad is a Firefighter - and lots of moody kid, helpful dog and firefighting. Awesome. For those who don't know - my dad was a firefighter and I grew up with dogs.
Spiderman 3 - 'Eh, not impressed. Maybe I had too high of hopes, but this was very choppy, too many villians (so hardly any development), and way, way too much of close up shots of Toby's face as he's trying to emote. WTF? Yes, lots of action (but very choppy and scattered/jerky), lots of stunts and lots of emo M.J. and Peter.
What I want to see (this month): Next, Hot Fuzz, Shrek 3, Pirates 3
