otherwise known as 'Stargate Overload'.

Plans: get up early, get in line for autograph ticket, get in line for ballroom 20, SG1 panel, Atlantis panel, autograph signings (x2).. then free time - if it all played out as planned.

For plan to implement - meant I had to be up at 5:30am (yes, I was. Don't all die of shock now), out of the house by 6:30am (check), down to con at 7:10 ish (check), park underneath (OH MY GOD! You know how long it's been since I've managed to park underneath the con???? YEARS!). Piddle around getting ready. Decide to head up and scope the lines and wait to call for assistance getting in. Find out line is moving in at Door E already!! Upstairs NO problem, into autograph area at 7:45, and meet up exactly with Jaelyn about 15 people back in line. Dies of amazement.

Wait for 9:00am blind draw. Line builds. Plead for help which [livejournal.com profile] lordgloria and her sister-unit provide. Sister-unit scores ticket for SG1!! Hugs sister-unit !!! Jaelyn scores Atlantis ticket. We go back to end of line to try again (just us two). Fail second time. Through line third time with not many tickets left and get lucky! Jumping happens in the autograph area :) So, 16 draws got us 4 tickets - one each for both shows.

Then over to ballroom 20 at a little after 10:20am to get sets for the 12:15 panel. Score seats 5 rows back and pretty decently located. Go us. Wait as room slowly fills.

SG1 panel - not as many stupid questions as cons usually bring out - except for the guy who wanted to sing (shudder). They took forever to turn off his mic!! Some interesting questions on military background and such. But not much else new, and besides a clip, not a whole lot on the movies. Just really a general chat. Happy though. Amanda, Ben & Chris were there, along with Martin Wood and Robert Cooper (directors/writers).

Atlantis panel - Larger panel - besides Martin Wood & Robert Cooper + Malozzi and sci-fi channel lady, we had Joe, David, Amanda and Jewel. Amazingly STUPID questions. (groans and hides head). Oh my god, were you all born stupid? Why can I never get enough bravery or imagination to ask anything? Usual stuff about what the actors are doing now, a bit of scottish flag waving from the audience, but surprising no questions on that subject (the person must have been further back in line for questions), question on action figures, what their favorite episode was and mind blanks on what else. Nothing I didn't already know, and nothing really interesting. The actors joked a little, mostly Amanda and David. Joe was pretty quiet (darn). A short clip shot (with a lot of SG1 stuff), and some scenes from season 4. Carter is definitely promoted (so that is answered).

Then a dash from ballroom 20 over to the autograph area. Where it was first one show (SG1), then the other. Got in line, hussled through (no personal items - they signed the Ark of Truth poster). Hardly any time. Out of line and back to end for next set (which actually put us closer to the front). Again, no personal items - they all signed the poster ad for Atlantis season 3. The actors seemed to want to chat, but again, we were hussled through. I did say I was looking forward to Season 4 right to Joe (god, he's soooo cute!!!) and he looked right at me and smiled. Managed a few pics. Then we were done.

4pm and I head down to the dealers room to haunt the Sci-fi booth and MGM booth for the next 3 hours for buttons. FINALLY find a sympathetic Sci-fi employee who slips me a few buttons she hussles out of the back on the sly (OF JOHN!!). However, whole time I'm there, they only hand out Eureka. I now have a ton of Eureka buttons. If anyone wants one, let me know.

Friends catch up with me, I'm starving.. you know, this whole stargate obsession leaving me only with the munchies I had on hand, and dragged out to a filling dinner at the Olive Garden.

A good day. Mission accomplished.

Mission tomorrow. Haunt Sci-fi, get Atlantis buttons!!!
