There was this list in my friends Maximum PC Magazine (Sept 08 issue) that just screamed SGA to me - maybe it was the references to PI, Star Wars vs. Star Trek, and of course 42...... but I got a giggle out of it, so I'm posting it to share.

I'm behind again on commenting on movies.. way behind. I've also missed a few I WANTED to see - but they went through so fast and/or I was busy and/or I just didn't get my act together fast enough.

Appaloosa - Viggo Mortensen + Ed Harris + horses = LOVE! A nice strong and moving friendship (even bromance) movie with a western flair. The core is the friendship between the two, and what happens when things change, in this case, a female. I've seen reviewers who claimed it was 'slow moving'. And yea, it is, in a good, old fashioned western way! Very much like all the old John Wayne flicks I so love. I think the critics wanted constant shoot/em/up/trill/a/minute western, which this is not, and so much the better for it. This reviewer puts it best: http://www.boston.com/movies/display?display=movie&id=12244 (she gives away the whole plot though so warnings)

Igor - kids flick. Not too bad actually. Pretty amusing in parts and not as cringe worthy as I originally thought.

The House Bunny - yes, I went and watched bubble-gum flick. I admit it. I also enjoyed it. It was funny and light hearted.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - Ohh... mummies! Running Tang Pottery Horses (yea, I loved that chase scene!). A little too much focus on the grown up kid and his romantic interest rather than our former hero's. But Jet Li as evil emperor and Chinese mummies, it was fun and action filled.

The X-files: I want to believe - I quite enjoyed it. I read complaints that it was too much like 'an episode of the show'. D'uh! Well, that's what I was hoping for!!!!!! And it delivered. Nice to see Mulder and Scully again. I would have liked a LITTLE more Skinner (he's there so briefly).

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - George Lucas, I'm disappointed in you. *sigh* I took a 6 yr old boy, he loved it. It was all machines blowing each other up. Hardly any character development, wooden dialogue and very, very flat.

Next week - Chihuahua Time!!! Yes, I love dog movies. And I've raised up one of the kids in the friends group to appreciate dog movies with me. And a super bonus year - TWO dog movies (next one is in November)

Missed, on my 'must rent' list: Deathrace (very bummed), Bangkok Dangerous (it was gone in a WEEK!! no kidding!), Babylon A.D. (again, gone quickly), Space Chimps
