Saturday started off calm and relaxed. I got to the con a little later, since I didn't have an early panel, and did a little shopping in the dealers room - as well as making an author signing. Since it was my birthday during con - I had some birthday money to spend - so I bought a anime DVD set, 2 books, a graphic novel, an anime book and a t-shirt for my mom's b-day. Yea, we're almost all in July. One sister is an outlier in June.
After shopping, I headed up to the panels, hoping to get in for the Warehouse 13/Eureka panels. The several before it were 'cartoon' ones, so was hoping that there would not be a long wait. And I was right! I got in easily, the room wasn't full, so I sat in the back and ate my lunch of tuna and crackers. When the panel ended, I managed to move up quite a bit to a good seat for pictures.
First up was the Warehouse 13 panel. Lots of fun and joking! Definitely a lot of energy on the cast. I watch and enjoy the show, but not terribly fanish about it. As I like the whole cast in general, and no one stands out. Allison is very expressive, CCH Pounder is a lot more friendly and laughing in person than her character. Allison was excited about her Eureka crossover and her new boyfriend in the show. (Fargo) was the moderator for the WH13 panel, and Allison was the moderator for the Eureka panel.
Next up, the Eureka panel. Again, a lot of energy with the cast obviously getting along well. I didn't get a clear picture of James Callis, he was at the panel too. They talked about that the time switch wasn't going to be reversed and that it would carry on from the season opener. Announced a few guest stars - one who come on stage, as well as that Eureka and WH13 were in the same 'world' which got a lot of applause from the audience.
I'm afraid I was busy with taking pictures and not notes... so all the questions and what not went in one ear and out the other.
Next was Nikita panel. I was interested in the one after it, so I stayed. Actually, they showed the entire pilot episode and did a super short 10 min Q&A. I liked Maggie O, not as happy with the other female. This new Nikita is set 5 years 'after', in that Nikita escaped and disappeared for 5 years, and is now back to make a mess of things for the agency.
Then the Human Target panel. They announced it was moving to Fri night on Fox. What is it was shows that useto be on Friday moving to Tue, and other night shows moving to Fri?? Anyway, they also talked about two new female characters would be in the show - one the 'boss', one a young thief. I don't think either had been cast yet. Not too sure I like the idea of this 'boss' idea.
Then... since I was already in the room, it was full and lots more wanting to get in.. . I couldn't leave before the Mythbusters panel!!! Last year, it was insane trying to get into the room, and I was already there in a great seat. I wasn't leaving. It overlapped a little with the seating time for the masquerade, but I called my pals and they promised to hold a seat for me :) Yay for pals!
The Mythbusters panel was super fun! It was introduced by Grant's robot 'Geoff'. Grant said he'd been called 'the Reed Richards of Robotics'. He was like, 'I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not... but I'm going to take it as one'. Adam is quite the talker (and Jaime is NOT). Adam said they had been renewed for SEVEN years by Discovery! Whee! He also said that they had no fear of running out of things to do.
One person asked him if they had ever had someone on the street tell them an urban myth that they later did. He was like yea, first season, he had some guy down at fisherman's wharf come up to him and go 'hey man, like you should do a show on like punching a shark in the nose to make it go away dude. It would like be awesome. Pow, pow, pow'. Adam said he was like uhm, yea. Then 'and yet, eight months later, and we're filming Jaime in a shark cage punching sharks in the nose...'. LOL.
Someone else asked about fan experiences, if they were recognized and fans asking for autographs/etc. Adam talked about earlier at the con, when the limo had pulled up at the Marriot, was like 'and there was Guillermo del Toro! I was clawing the window in fan panic forgetting how to use the door handle. And when it was opened, I jumped out and headed towards him, all ready to fawn. He saw me coming and was like 'ADAM! You must tell them about the Pipe! They do not believe me!' It ended up being a mutual fan frenzy :P
And then I rushed out of there and over to the Masquerade, found my pals and watched a fun show.
lilithlotr Nicole's group won best of show. And she wore a pretty revealing outfit this time! Really proud of her. They did 'Viva Las Villians' - the group dressed a showgirls for a villians retreat.
Then, uhg, time to crawl home to bed. I didn't take anymore pictures of the masquerade entries. It was already pretty late and I was dragging. And my large digital's batteries had died near the end of the Mythbusters panel.
Sat Swag: 2 buttons, 1 book, 3 swag bags, handful of flyers/bookmarks. Since I was in panels most of the day, and shopping before that, not a large haul today.
(Fargo) proposing that his bobble head should be a Warehouse 13 Artifact! LOL!
( lots more panel pics )
