Dylan Dog: Dead of Night - a Supernatural mystery/comedy indie film. Actually, I liked it, even though we talked about the movie after wards that there were a number of problems: too many conflicting genre, some plot problems. Over all though, the dialogue was great, the acting was good, good effects and some really well done moments of comedy. Definitely a 'B' movie in most respects. It really reminds me of the Simon Pegg & Nick Frost brand of comedy. So yea, even while laughing at or complaining about some aspects - we all enjoyed the movie. Our talk fest after wards was mostly on how we thought it could have been tightened up into something really good. It's like they had some strong scenes and then .... fell apart at how to tie up the film.

I talk about some more direct spoilers on what I liked/what worked and what didn't )

Worth seeing: Definitely worth renting if you enjoy B movies and MST3K'ing them.

To all the moms out there!

I called my mom, emailed the sisters and I'm taking my grandma to the movies to see 'Water for Elephants'. She read the book and wants to see the movie. Says she likes circus and elephants. Hey, fine with me. I'm letting her see it while I surf in the courtyard of the theater.

Fast Five - fun, fun, fun! Lots of car stunts, all of them pretty improbable, but all exciting. Some wild fights and chases and Dwayne Johnson being over-the-top. But since everyone is over-the-top, including the car chases, he fits right in. Even the critics had to admit it was summer fun and hey, don't try to explain it.

My favorite was the huge climax chase scene with the safe. Total fantasy, but well done and exciting fantasy!

Actually, it had quite a bit of plot. Could have had more car stunts :) I liked the heist aspect with car stunts in this one more than I liked the street-racing culture of the earlier movies. Only thing, not as heavy on the slashy aspect this time, unlike earlier movies.

Worth seeing? Oh yea. Even better in a movie theater.

Thor - Pretty good and enjoyable. Some pretty impressive CGI for the Asgard plane. Thor starts off a pretty arrogant a$$, but he does learn, and that's what I liked about the movie, good character growth. Lots of plot and some well done action. I found the mix of 'magic' and science interesting, and they spent a lot more time on Asgard/upper realms than really on earth. Like some many others have commented, I would have liked to see more of Thor's growth on Earth. But you know, time constraints. Also, the actor who played Thor is really nice to look at and he should have had his shirt off more! :)

Stay till the way end of the credits! You get a cool teaser for the Avengers.

All in all, worth seeing.

And I'm finally caught up on chatting about movies I've seen!
