Day 3 - otherwise known as 'Sci-fi crazy day'
Was a long day, even though I got to the con just as it opened. No need to get in early today. Headed right for the Sci-fi booth and proceeded to hang out. As I arrived, the 1st button of the day was John! Whee! Score early on. Then .. a lot of waiting. Lots of buttons for Battlestar and Eureka, lots of Battlestar books (I score two for me and Jaelyn), lots of cylon mini-mates - of which I score a multitude.
Checked MGM booth, but they were giving out nothing really new, though because I was wearing a SG1 t-shirt, I was handed a SG1 clock. Cool.
David Hewlett signed at the Best Buy booth at 2:00, and I make the line (whew), and get his signature on the poster for A Dogs Breakfast. No mobs of people, though its busy, and he chats with all of us. I ask the guy behind me to take a picture, and he does. All my other pictures I tried to take in line are blurry. They didn't want us using flash, and David was really jumping around and moving, so the camera took longer to get enough light = slower shutter speed.
Then over to the table near the Sci-fi booth for Amanda Tapping signing for Sanctuary. Then David H. comes through the Sci-fi booth on his way out the door, and draws a crowd (of course). I don't manage a picture, but he goes right by me as he leaves and I shake his hand and tell him I'm looking forward to Season 4, which gets a huge grin.
I dash up stairs for my one panel I'd planned for the day - Supernatural panel, cutting it WAY too close. The line is HUGE and yet, it does move, and after snaking around all over, I do get into the panel (about 10 minutes late). Shock! I later heard about the hell that was the Hero's panel - which filled up fast and left huge lines not able to get in. Late lunch was munchies in the panel.
I dash out of the panel and down stairs for the dealers room again for the Supernatural signing - but the lines and crowds is a mob scene, and I'm not even getting close. When the security starts throwing a fit, it's time to be somewhere else.
So, back to Sci-fi booth for more buttons. It's not until 5:30pm that they 'find' the Atlantis buttons, and I finally get all 3. Time for some food in celebration! Whew. At about 6:30 I go upstairs for final bidding for the art show - I bid on a few of the elven pottery pieces, then go head for the huge line for masquerade. But we've got tickets, and all we want is to have a good spot to see an overhead screen. So, the line is no biggie. Get in, get a good spot with screen viewing. All is good.
Masquerade was interesting - a lot of 'funky dance' music type ones, ie, start with the serious/show music, then switch to some funky dance thing and dance. Huh? And it was used a LOT. Nothing really outstanding, and only about two that really got loud applause from the audience. Mostly the crowd was pretty subdued. We stayed for a bit of the half-time show (pretty lame), then headed out to catch a trolley at about 11:20pm. Lucky, the green/red line was still running! So no 3 trolley switch around to get to my stop. It was about 12:30am when I got home, so that's why no posting. Tired!!
Day 4 - otherwise known as 'how to do the dealers room in one day!'
Was slow getting going in the morning, but managed to reach the con a little after it opened. Then started with a dealers room crawl. Spent money, got lots of art, photo's, freebie books, cards, special Stargate cards, Stargate card binder, presents and three of the pottery pieces I bid on in the art show. I'd done a few of the rows before, so this was more trying to get the area's I'd missed. Finally ran into Diana's table way at the opposite end from where I was hanging out all con!
After con was over ::sniff::, got a bite to eat at a sit down restaurant nearby before heading home on the trolley - which needed the 3 trolley switch around for the 1st time in 4 days. :::sigh:::
I'm really tired, ache all over from carrying books and my feet are killing me. All in all, a good con :)
