Computers are a pain in the A$$!

Gosh darn it! I take my desktop in to be fixed, for what I think is a small registry problem.... and what do I get - the dreaded "do you have all your original software" question. ARRRRRGGGGHHHH! Okay, I guess my stupid desktop is pissed at all the loving attention I've been paying to my laptop - but I've been surfing at home on the desktop!

It decided that it HATED being disconnected for the fire evacuation and stuck in my car for a almost a week. When hooked back up, not only did the monitor flake out, but I got an error message and funky not working icons. AOL worked, and I could get to other things with a bit of fiddling, but I couldn't do much and finally took it in.

Now, the repair guy wants to wipe the drive and re-install everything. Which means digging out the original disks... from 4 years ago. Oy viey. I have NO idea where they are. Yea, I have them.... somewhere.... :::sigh:::

I even know where some of my discs are, but really, I hate wiping drives and re-installing! bleh...

Yeah... computers are a total pain! (can't live with 'em, can't live without...)

Can't one of the guys take a look at it? Wiping the drive seems a bit drastic.

they don't have the time at this time of year, and when I told Chris, he seemed to agree that was the way to deal with a registry problem. The guy who did it rebuilds/fixes/etc with computers all day long, it's his job. He's a friend of my mom's who barted her hubby into doing car work in exchange, so it all works out and I got my computer fixed for x-mas. :) He got it done in a day! yay!

so true! Oh, I knew I had mine... in a SAFE place. Which took me two hours of frantic searching to find. ::sigh::
