I'm not disappearing - just watching lots and lots of the Olympics. I love the Olympics. I'm not a sports fan, but I really get into the Olympics. Of course right now I really want to kill NBC. I'm so extremely tired of continual talk of US Athlete, show us US Athlete, then if they don't win, show us who wins.... .. and that's =IT= OMG, Show me the entire field. Really! *grumble*

At least with swimming, you get all 8 in the race. For the ladies gymnastics - they showed the Americans and the Chinese. No One Else. I was bummed. There were EIGHT teams competing! The Romanians won Bronze. I would have liked to see some of it :(

I like the winter Olympics more. They are forced to show more countries there, but then we get continual 'spotlights' on the US Athletes and their life and etc, etc, etc. I don't want to know that, really, give the athlete SOME privacy! Show the sport!!!!

My favorites to watch: Gymnastics, Swimming, Diving, Equestrian -which they DO NOT SHOW :( :(. I watch Beach Volleyball and Track and Field, but not as intensely.

So, for those of you not in the US - do you have the same problem with your broadcast? Do they show the entire sport, or flip around and give you one tiny bit here and there?

I was pissed about the equestrian events being left out too :( The ended a couple days ago I think?

What REALLY sux is that to watch the online stream you have to have very specific browsers and OS...stupid fracking Microsoft & NBC!!

It's infuriating how they only show the American athletes...honestly, there aren't many sports we're good at, why do we only have to watch those?

I felt lucky that the US women won some fencing medals (though only in sabre...my least favorite of the weapons) or else we'd not have seen that either. No foil though (I briefly fenced with foil collegiately), alas.

It definitely is a bit annoying, especially in gymnastics, which is my favorite "primetime" sport to watch. :/ I think part of the problem this year is that with the 12-hour time difference, they're trying to show prime time stuff "live" so we end up with big cuts between the swimming and gymnastics all night. T_T;;

The equestrian stuff was shown on Oxygen network (...wtf?), which irritates me too. I guess the masses would rather watch chicks in bikinis play volleyball than watch horses... 9_9

In Germany, our two main state-run tv stations show pretty much everything there is to see. The first one broadcasts live from about 2 a.m. till 5 p.m., then the other shows the highlights for 90 minutes at prime time.

Of course the main focus is on the German athletes, but everything gets shown, plus editorials on life and living in China and stuff.

Not that I'm watching, for (voluntary) lack of a tv connection, but I could if I wanted to.

I started flipping through channels and found a Spanish channel I watch with the volume down and a Asian channel that showed some other stuff.

but I just can't stay up that late. My eyes start crossing at 11pm

Actually, I've been able to watch the Equestrian competitions. Do you get the Oxygen channel? They seem to have the rights to the Equestrian stuff going on in Hong Kong.

I struggled through to get the online streaming and watched the Mens Double-trap, womens air-rifle, and Mens individual Epee finals (so far). I have to admit though that these events are not for everybody and would bore the average TV viewer. Even I skipped ahead at times during the Double-trap and air-rifle vids.

Still, the coverage seems even more narrowly focused than I recall from past Olympics.
