or nothing makes me realize how MUCH it sucks than by traveling!
I'm waiting at the gate for my plane back to SD in Phoenix - at a gate supplied by lots of nice restaurants, some fast food places, wide open areas, lots of view screens - and the whipped cream - internet 'desks' little tables with stools AND power outlets to surf on. AND there's about 3 tables, each with 6 chairs (though they can only hold 3 people - laptops ARE wider than the space they give) PER GATE!!! It's Awesome!
The SD airport is not only very tight with limited view screens and only regular chair airport style seating. Even the two small fastfoody restaurant outlets at Terminal 1 (Southwest) don't have table seating! :( And we're not even going to get into my bitching about how sucky the paging is or the reason I missed my flight TO Phoenix due to the ONE bathroom being closed and a long line :( :( Yea, it was not a fun day. My only saving grace is that at least I didn't have the last flight of the day, and SW does run a lot of planes to PHX, so I caught the next flight - which had about what, 10 people on it? Anyway, that was the reason (plane delays/etc) I planned to fly in for the funeral on the evening before, rather than trying to get everything taken care early today (tue.)
I guess one reason for the suckyness, SD is not a 'hub' or 'travel thru' city so they don't bother to make it nice. It's either you leave from or you arrive there. The only waiting is done by those having to get there early to pass security.
