Geek out - I admit to loving Battlestar Galactica. Wow. Let's just say they stole all the good writers from every other sci-fi type show. ALL OF THEM! Galactica has turned into an in-your-face drama with deep consequences about survival, religion, betrayal and the price and cost of war in a science fiction setting. I'm loving it. I'm loving the writing, and I can't wait to get more.
I will admit that at first (when sci-fi channel first announced the mini-series), very, very leary of them re-doing Galactica. It was a personal favorite when I was in Jr. High. I even wrote a fangirl story for myself, longhand, in a notebook. I was that much a fan. I saw the ads, visited the web site and went, huh? What ARE they doing? Who's this character? Eh, he's not cute enough to be Apollo. Starbuck as a GIRL! Bleah!
The mini-series was interesting. I actually missed part of it. But it caught my attention. Okay, they have an idea. It's not quite my cuppa (not enough cute guys), but whatever. Then they get picked up to be a series, more announcements and etc. I'm still leary, but willing to try. Wanting to see what they carry over/change from the mini-series. I guess I can root for Baltar. He's cute in an evil way.
Episode #1. Wow. That was well done.
Episode #2. Wow, what an idea.
Episode #3. I'm looking forward to it all week and admit I'm a new convert. Season end, and I'm screaming at the TV like any other junkie.
I waited Breathlessly for Season 2, loved what they've done so far, and right before the several month break - they drop the big one - the return of the Pegasus and Cain - now a female - and then leave us hanging for MONTHS!!!!!
Wow.
Talk about a revelation. Not only did they improve on the hints of Cain's personalty we get in the original, they take everything to the outermost aspect. Not only an warmongering, egotistical, hard nose - but add insane, ruthless, cut-throat, merciless, mercenary, single minded, oh, and of higher rank than Adama (that was a fun addition!). She's a fascinating character, and just like the original, it seems Cain is destined to flame out, quickly-rubbing Adama the wrong way and trying to take over.
The killer line of tonight's episode - the President saying to Adama after Cain leaves the room. "This can end only one way. You've got to kill her," in a calm, deadpan voice. And what does Adama say, not no, but rather "I'm not an assassin," All but admitting that Cain and what Cain was doing to everyone, was a BIG problem for the fleet.
OH MY GOD! Me and my friend screamed at the TV!
Bring it on! 7 days and counting till next week....... :)
I need a BG user pic :)
