day 02 → your favorite movie

ohhh... a hard one. I have a LOT of 'favorite' movies!

so would it be the one I saw the most in the theater? That would be LOTR:Fellowship - 13 times.

or the movie I have the most copies of - which would be Star Wars (4,5 & 6). We won't talk about my cursing for having to RE-BUY this all the time - from original VHS, to WS VHS to special edition VHS to DVD with both versions.... to DVD widescreen. *sigh*

I also own about 4 different copies of the original Stargate movie (with Kurt Russel) - VHS, DVD, then DVD 'special edition' to a special edition named something else which I thought they added more... and they keep doing that - renaming so I think it's something new.

I'm lucky I don't have a HD TV and a Blueray player. I can see re-getting ALL of these again.

This would be a tough one for me too. Some of my fav movies have not stood the test of time. I loved the original Indiana Jones movie. I loved the first Star Wars movie. I was blown away by Out of Africa.

But in recent times, I was thrilled all out of proportion by the Star Trek Reboot. I loved Avatar, despite its detractors and I'm kinda excited to watch the new Sherlock Holmes movie...

I enjoyed those too. But favorites are those I actually watch all the time. You know, when one is home, bored with what's on, one sticks in a 'comfort' movie - and for me - it's usually one of those :)

Which doesn't mean that ST Reboot or Avatar will reach those heights - but not enough time yet.

Huh. I think you might just have uncovered a gap in my obsessive behavior stuff. I can't think of a single movie that qualifies, though I have read books, listened to songs and watched television series obsessively.

I have to *really* like a movie a lot to buy a copy of it and I don't own many. I mostly buy obscure little films that I enjoyed and fear I won't be able to see again, like Enchanted April or Amalie. How odd though, that this would be one form of entertainment that doesn't grab me like the others!

Hehehe.. I SO hear your pain about multiple versions/updates. :( I have Star Wars 4-6 on VHS... haven't made the effort to get them on disc yet. I suppose at least I can go straight to Blu-Ray for that and skip the DVD stage... ;D

Also: Fellowship? THAT is serious favoriting! :D (I saw it twice in the theater, which is impressive for me... lol.)

well - it wasn't 13 times all at once. We had a it playing around town till JUNE! (yes, June). because once it got picked up for Oscars, one of the smaller, indy, theaters kept it for a lot longer. And I kept taking different friends.

Then I went on a LOTR tour of NZ, and found out my 13 times put me in the BOTTOM end of the number of times. I couldn't even imagine 60+?!?!

Re: SW. Yea, Lucas ownes my ass *sigh*
