Movie: The Green Hornet

Saw 'The Green Hornet' tonight. Interesting in that I liked some parts of the movie and disliked others.

Liked: The action, Kato, the villain, the girl, the supporting characters

Disliked: Seth Rogen :(

Unfortunately, he played Britt Reid as a major A##hole the entire movie. I can sort of see starting OUT that way - but he really didn't learn anything and really, you wanted Kato and the girl to take over.

It was like watching one of those slapstick pratfall type movies turned into an action movie. I'd rather have had an action movie without the slapstick poke-your-eye-out type humor (a la 'Hangover' or 'Bruno').

[livejournal.com profile] corvis_corvax and I spent time after the movie discussing actors we'd have rather seen play Britt Reid instead.

We did, however, finally get some new trailers. OMG! PAUL!! I LOVE Simon Pegg's humor movies! This is Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are sci-fi geeks who encounter a slacker alien named PAUL!! Go watch a trailer of it now!

Aww, that is disappointing; I thought it looked like a lot of fun from the trailers, especially Kato. Maybe I'll use a silver pass on it in a couple of weeks. >_>

When there's action happening and Seth Rogen isn't talking, it's great! :)

I have to admit, the trailer left me cold because my reaction to Seth Rogen in the lead role was pretty much the same as yours.

It's funny how it takes so little to turn someone's opinion one way or the other, doesn't it?

Bummer about Green Hornet. The local paper wasn't too impressed either. Doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but P wants to see it because Edward James Olmos is in it. We'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD....

Edward James Olmos is great - but he has a very small part and they don't give him much to do

Well, dang. Good to know though, and I'll tell P not to get his hopes up *sigh*

We saw a trailer for Paul on IMDB, and it looks HILARIOUS! That one might actually lure us to the theater ;-)

I like Seth Rogan but he does seem a weird choice for an action hero type movie. And why is the hot Asian always the damn sidekick??? I bet Kato could have been the star and it would have been really cool.

Firstly, thank you so much for the virtual LJ gift!!

Secondly, I'm going to see The Green Hornet tonight so I'll be interested to see what I think of it. I've never read the comic books so won't go in there with preconceived notions which might help or hinder, depending on how accessible it is! LOL!

I saw the loved the trailer for Paul too when I went to see The King's Speech yesterday!

Yea, let me know what you think of it!

Actually, I haven't read the comics or watched the old show either.

[livejournal.com profile] corvis_corvax said that she caught a few episodes of the old TV show (they were playing it on marathon) a few weeks ago, she said it actually HELPED her - in that she could see 'oh, they took that, and that, and oh, I know where that nood is', etc.
