My laptop decided to 'update' and it loaded IE 9.... and I HATE IT! HATE IT! HATE IT!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All my buttons! Hiding! or gone, or something, and I prefer to open 'windows' and switch between them at the bottom of the screen.. now it's doing tabs.

*sigh*

I know, whine, whine, whine.

Had the same problem at my work computer. You can uninstall it, or rather the update which will restore IE 8. Here is how (from the microsoft help section):
To uninstall Internet Explorer

The following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.

2. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.

3. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

4. Click one of the following:
* Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).
* Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).

Worked for me. If windows wants you to do an update again check if the IE 9 is on the list. They do try to install it among various security updates now and then.

I hated IE so much I switched to Firefox. At least when it updates, everything stays looking the same :-)

I know what you mean though--I hate it when things change so much and I have to scramble to figure out the new, non-intuitive program. (You should see me gnashing my teeth at MS Word 7...)

I've been using Google Chrome a few weeks now and I like it, but I've noticed I can't seem to download and save word documents anymore which angers me to no end!

Do you know how? Because I was fool enough to download IE9 too and it won't download and save word docs either!
