The big day - in which I needed to get in early and panel sit for the morning to early afternoon for the Stargate Panels in Ballroom 20. Ended up killing alarm, missing 1st trolley and frustration on parking situation at one of the trolley stops, made me later than I was originally planning. I still thought I was okay..... till I saw the long-OMG-line to get into the room....... TWO HOURS before the first panel :(
This year, everyone learned from last year, and was doing the 'get in early' bit to get into panel rooms way before the panel they wanted. I accidentally line cut (there was this huge break and I thought it was the end of the line - and I'm not kidding about HUGE break), and got into the line and got into the room not too long after I arrived, and got a seat 7 rows from the front near the isle. Not too shabby actually. Then proceeded to guard two seats for a hour till one person showed up to help.
I'm too tired to really give a good report on the Stargate Panels, and I should be in bed now.... it's the huge day tomorrow. Needless to say, RDA is a scream in person. Discussions on Frozen Poop. Really. He found the con fascinating I think, but didn't remember much about his character's history/episodes, joked with the other actors, and it was amusing on how they were all doing stuff together.
Atlantis panel - Joe, Jewel and Picardo were there, plus two of the writers - Gero and Wright. Same sorts of questions asked you get every year, a lot of stuff asked to Jewel and Picardo on how they fit in/saw things/compare to other shows/etc. I took a ton of photos from the jumbotron, a number of them fuzzy.
I then had been in that room for 4 hours, so down to walk the dealers room. Hit the Stargate Worlds booth on the way to Sci-Fi booth to find out THEY ARE DOING SIGNINGS!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!! It wasn't listed anywhere! Dang it. And, not only that, they gave out tickets down in the dealers room when everyone was in the panel! Bummed, I sort of followed people around as they got in line, ended up talking to a few of the excited ticket goers to find this out, also that they gave out some tickets to those that asked questions in the panels, as well as giving out tickets to random rows in the panel! (see, not lucky, I never even saw them give out tickets or knew about this before hand). If I had known, gee.. could I have been in two places at the same time?
Anyway, I must have looked pitiful, as one person who was with a friend had gotten a ticket from the row thing, and wasn't an Atlantis fan, gave me her ticket! She said she was passing on fan karma, as she'd been given an autograph ticket by someone else at another con for someone she really wanted and missed getting a ticket. I offered Sci-Fi buttons to those around me and shared.
I then spent two hours in that lineup talking with the fans I was in line with. Half were there for the Continuum signing, the other half for the Atlantis signing. I didn't get close enough to get pictures of the Continuum signing (drat), but it was fun seeing the actors go by. My camera was too slow though, as I got blurs. For the Atlantis signing, they were signing the Poster Ad for the 4th Season DVD's, and it was just Jewel and Picardo. Joe didn't come :( Ah well. They also gave out the Stargate Atlantis T-shirt (black shirt, small blue print in the corner).
After later discussion with friends, it's been decided that while I'm not lucky at winning in blind draw contests, I've got line karma. If there's a line, I can get in it, and get through it to get what I want. If I want to win something by lottery - I need to track down
spiderling
After that, swung by the Sci-Fi booth, got some buttons, off to two different author signings, wandered the book isle, picked up a number of free books, back to sci-fi to score another big fracken bag per request. And yet another friend now wants me to get her one as well. Gads. They seem to be extremely popular. I wish I could get one of the WB ones - long shoulder strap! But can't get over there. I've also seen a cool bag I love with a long strap as well, but don't know where they are getting it!
More wandering, trying to do the opposite end from where I'm usually. Found out why I'm seeing so many people with computers - there is free wi-fi ! Dang, but my laptop is NOT light. My bag must weigh 30 lbs today alone with all the books and stuff! And my feet are sore, my shoulder sore, and it's ONLY the 2nd day? Getting older sucks. I left to get dinner before the Sci-Fi programing in the evening. They showed Eureka (good season opener), and Stargate Altlanis - yay!! Then crawled home. must sleep now.....

Swag: Sci-Fi buttons: Eureka - Henry, Jack and Allison (I'm missing one, I forget who), Battlestar: Six, Baltar, Starbuck and Anders. (hard to get, I only got one Anders!), 5 books, 2 chapterbooks, handful of postcards for Continuum and Atlantis, Stargate worlds T-shirt, Stargate Worlds dogtags, Stargate Atlantis T-shirt, another Big Fracken Bag, Atlantis poster-Autographed.
