A slower start getting going for the big Saturday frenzy. I had no early plans, so took advantage of sleeping in a for a little - and by this I mean till 8:30am, as it was going to be a late night. I discovered on the way to the trolley that my phone had flipped out and lost its charge, so no contacting anyone or them contacting me.
I had two author signings to do, and one panel I was hoping to catch, and shopping! So, lots of walking back and forth across the dealers room. Gads, my feet HURT! Also a bad plan to shop on a day when it was going to be a long day. I ended up carting around a huge bag of stuff/paper/books all day. Because not only did I bring books to be signed, but bought a few more. Paper is heavy!!
A lot of lines and waiting (for the signings) when not walking around. I also stood in the line for Room 20 for over a hour, but my line karma failed me, and I missed getting into the BSG panel. I really should have been prepared and gotten in line earlier, but waited too long.
I also checked out the art show and bid on a few pieces. I won a SGA watch, 2 pieces of art of a drowish looking character, a crochet doll that caught my eye and a clay formed dragon magnet.
Sci-Fi blew their entire button allotment in two days, so no buttons :( I tried again for a bag, but no luck, other stuff they were giving out (the Eureka tins, comics, bobbleheads, tattoo's I already had)
We had decided earlier that instead of trying to get into room 20 for the Masquerade, we were going to watch it under the sails. So, I did the dealers room till it closed then headed up to sit down for a while. The Masquerade wouldn't start till after sometime 8pm. Watching it under the sails was interesting. A little more distracting, since the crowd is large and noisy, but on the upside, food! A lot of anime costumes for shows I had no clue about, and a lot of very similar themes - the 'serious' show/look that turns into the 'funky music dance' to get a laugh. It was like, hey, that won last year, lets do that too. Ugh. But a fairly nice Masquerade all told, nothing too horribly bad. The one I liked the most won best of show - an Orc and his Warg - and the costumes ..... OMG - stunning! And the group I know (Nicole's) won best presentation. I was pretty darn exhausted, and didn't want to haul around the huge, huge, huge bag of loot any more, so we headed out instead of trying to get any photos while they were doing the judging. Down to the trolley, which was still running the 'Red' line - so a direct shot and no transfers to my car, then home - at about 1:30 am. ugh. yea, that's why I didn't post Sat night, I just fell into bed, since Sun I DID have an early panel.
swag: Astroboy bag, Warner Bros. bags (several), Dark Castle T-shirt, 2 Fox poster tubes, 10 posters, 1 book, Star Wars patch, Frequenaut, wristband, bookmarks, cards, postcards, 4 manga samplers, 2 luggage tags (Sarah Conner Chronicles), 3 pins, dog tags, 2 comics and 2 magazines.
