::whine, whine, whine::
I got my old monitor to work (I guess being mad at it worked)... and it DIDN'T fix the icons on my screen problem!!!! Damnit! Also still can't get some functions to load at all, like I'm not able to access most of the stuff in the control panel! :( At this rate, I'm going to be hauling it down to Best-Buy and handing it to the geek squad with a 'fix it!' demand ::sigh::
After much wishy-washying on the subject of going to Yaoi Con (something that has been planned since January), I decided I needed to de-stress after the week from hell with the fires and panicking over losing everything (again). I really, really, really hate the end of October. It meant a lot of driving, and more of a quick trip to San Francisco than originally planned (because I had to be back at work on Monday), but the promise of relaxing and seeing my sister and getting OUT OF TOWN and the smoke for a few days swayed the vote.
Drive wasn't too bad, Hotel was super nice (huge room!) and con was fun and relaxing. Had dinner with the sis,
psyche7772 and her hubby and saw ultrasounds of the new pipsqueek. Hotel had a limited computer access 'business center' where you paid for access ($5.00 for 15 min), and it wasn't open much of the weekend. They had a super panel of access places and etc in the room, so if one had a laptop, easy connection. ::sigh:: So, that's where my 'wanna laptop' comes in. I guess I'm just addicted to the internet!

Date: 1 Nov 2007 18:49 (UTC)I bought several yo-sd outfits, some jewelry and a pair of boxers for my SD13 boy who threw a fit about wearing a skirt with no undies. Heh. Funny thing, the lady who had the boxers laughed and said her boy was the same way. He was there modeling a skirt too.

Date: 1 Nov 2007 21:17 (UTC)I've been kinda keeping an eye out as well.
Walmart will be selling an Acer laptop starting tomorrow at 8AM for $348. It's part of their new early Black Friday sales. Apparently they will be offering cut-rate prices every Friday through Thanksgiving.
Dell has a bargin basement laptop for $499. Fry's has got some advertised in the $400-$600 range.
Of course, it all depends on what you want to do with the laptop. If all you are doing is web surfing and document writing, then these cheap ones are probably okay... However, a couple of warnings... you'd want at least 1 GB of RAM, and the battery it comes with may not last very long. Meaning you'd have to have it plugged in more often than with a better laptop. Lastly, don't even think of playing 3D games on it.
So, you want to hit Walmart at 7AM tomorrow?
