touchpads are hard!

I like my laptop's keyboard. It's a little small, but not tiny and the buttons feel nice and move smoothly. I'm still trying to adjust to the touchpad. Mostly I'm having trouble with how to scroll with it. I'll start off fine, and by tapping it'll move slowly down a page, but then, for some reason, the next tap sparks off this huge jump or it'll scroll past really fast and I'll be like, huh? wait! slower! go back!

I got a wireless mouse to go with this all, but mainly to use when I'm in wordprocessing or need to highlight or do more than just surfing. I haven't figured out how to highlight or select with a touchpad.

Yes, I'm goofing off online because things haven't started yet. Won't have time to tomorrow what with the morning breakfast AND trying to check out of the hotel and packing the car and not missing anything.

Not sure what's up with the scrolling, but you should be able to highlight by holding down the left-click button below the touchpad at the same time as you're moving on the touchpad. I use the click-buttons a lot, rather than just tapping the touchpad... Mouse is still easier, but I mostly use just the touchpad--no mouse. In fact, I haven't had a mouse for years. I do have a wacom tablet, though, but that's no good for clicking and dragging... but I sometimes use the mouse that came with the wacom during the rare instances when I'm playing LOTRO...
