for the 2nd time, my attempt to get DSL failed. AT&T has finally told me that my connection outside at the pole is 'too old' and that they cannot update it and that it won't handle DSL. ::cries::

so, I'm stuck with Dial up at home. Cable's out (cable lines not strung across road/nearby). I suppose the next attempt is satellite, which is what I have for TV. :sigh: but its much more expensive, and I think I'd have to change satellite providers. :groan:

*hugs laptop* at least I have my shiny new toy. My laptop has made traveling around a lot more fun, and gets use at my friends places where I can hop onto their cable systems. Also at coffee shops where I can use it to surf faster and try to download some of the vids for later viewing that I can't manage at home.

Sweeeet! I love my laptop even if it rarely leaves the office. I like to take it to my room so I can surf the net and watch tv at the same time.

Yep--at least laptops are good for using at places with free wireless connections and at friends' houses!

For $60 a month you could go to Hughsnet (formerly DirectWay)with a $300 investment. OR you could get AT&T DataConnect with a $50 investment (after $150 two yr contract rebate and $50 online rebate). The advantage of the AT&T DataConnect is that it is mobile.
