Whoops - getting behind

So far:

Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Smart and Indy style. I liked it. Somewhat over the top, and there's the usual ignoring of physics (my inner McKay was making internal snarky comments at one point). But it moved along quickly, Indy was smart, funny and hot and kid wasn't annoying, Marion was good to be there and the bad guys weren't too stupid to live. There was the usual Indy fare of snakes, other bugs, impossible escapes and destroying priceless history and even this time - space aliens! heh. Enjoyable.

Kung Fu Panda - surprisingly fun and well done! I enjoyed it A LOT. Loved the animation style which was soooo much better than the Dreamworks standard fare, and a good story with even an excellent moral message. If you have kids, take them. They'll enjoy it and you will too. And like a friend commented - a master/student conflict handled so much better than Lucas did with Vader in Star Wars. OMG. I just didn't expect all this depth from a summer kid flick, honestly. It's even one I'm planning to get on DVD.

Second good review on lj I've read today! 'Sounds more promising than I thought it'd be. I haven't seen Indy or Panda or anything yet... 'must head off to the theater sometime soon!

Yea, Kung Fu Panda really surprised me. It's very much Pixar in story tone with very dimensional characters and a stylized chinese look. I'd be curious what you thought of the animation. And believe me - the previews/ads/print stuff I've seen on Kung Fu Panda is very much cutsy and not at all in tone with how it really looks.
