Creation Burbank Stargate 2008 Convention
November 22 - Saturday
The 1st actual day (though there was a small 'fan get together party' the night before, at which I didn't take any pictures) Mainly went to pick up registration info. Saturday was the 1st full day - with three guest stars. I had a great seat on the aisle and the day was set for trying out my new camera. And boy, did I have my job cut out for me with the 1st guest!
Dan Shea - stunts and RDA Body double

Wow . . . he =NEVER= stood still. I was panicking, thinking I was terrible with my new camera, the focus just could NOT keep up with him. So I was doing things like taking pictures of the audience and constantly checking my pics. Good thing I had time for practice! Dan told a bunch of amusing stunt type stories, some from SG-1, a number from other stunt jobs he'd been on.
2nd up was Alexis Cruz, who played Skarra. I didn't actually take any pictures of him. He had a very interesting view on acting and the choices one makes in rolls they take.
Then my photo Op with Kavan Smith - which turned out okay I suppose. Never like how I look in pictures. Then Kavan Smith's talk! He told a number of funny stories of things that have gone wrong on sets - mostly a lot of his theater jobs. He had a super funny story on Joe Flanigan's hair - The Hair! ROTFL! I hope the video on that is online somewhere. I only caught a brief moment on it in a prior pic I posted. He also had a long story about a naked job he'd done and how embarrassing they are. I don't think the audience could breathe we were laughing so much. He spins a great story with funny expressions. He joked that David Hewlett is a prima dona behind the scenes and that because their wives were friends, David didn't bitch as much around him because Kavan would laugh at him. I guess filming Search & Rescue, that fall of dirt that landed on Lorne took quite a number of takes to fall right, and mostly it kept getting on David.
Here's some pics of Kavan. He really kept that microphone in front of his face tightly a lot of the time.

Then two parties that night - the 1st the Cabaret with Alexis Cruz and Dan Shea - which was okay. It was much better last year with Carmen doing the script reading. Following that was the Dessert party with guests wandering the tables from both the Firefly and Stargate cons. We had a good group at our table and joked quite a lot. The guests were really brief and I totally forget what was said, but it was nice - except for the music which was too loud. Lovely centerpieces at some tables. I wish I had been creative to come up with something. Then it was really late and time to crawl to bed for the early, early breakfast the next morning, which I was really looking forward to.

(And I enjoyed the script reading with Carmen *wink wink*) ;-)

I think one big reason the Cabaret was better last year - Carmen interacted better with the audience. Dan Shea & Alexis did interesting stuff, but it was all stuff you watched, nothing that was interactive. And yea.. you did good last year :)
