Stargate Burbank 2008 - Sunday - pt 1

Sunday or the day we've all been waiting for - the glee that will need several posts to show!

I've not had the chance to meet with Rachel at a small con event like this (the crazyness of Comic Con several years ago where I barely heard her talk doesn't count). She's very sweet and sort of quiet and has a super voice. She really does seem a lot like the calm Teyla that she portrays and it's sad that TPTB can't seem to use her character more.

The audience wanted her to sing a LOT and that and the constant asking about romance made me feel sorry for her. I soooo agreed with what Rachel said, that UST is best and it leaves things open, and if I'd had my photo op before the panel, I would have told her that!! I had this teenybopper sitting next to me who seemed to want to yell Sheppard for every question Rachel was asked. *grits teeth*

The only funny thing that I picked up on - she changed into different outfits every time I saw her!! At the morning breakfast, a cute floral dress; at the Photo ops a tight black formal outfit with buckles; for the panel tank-top and jeans; when she came out later for the 'three' panel - added a hairclip. When I kidded her about that at the photo op (that she changed), she sort of shrugged and said 'Well, girls gotta have fun' in her soft voice.

I was busy talking pictures, so no notes, so ..uhm.. not much of a report. I enjoyed listening to her and here's some pictures.















notice the hair ornament. In Rachel's continuing quest to change outfits each time we saw her, after she came back on stage for the talk with the three of them, she'd added the hair ornament. She had worn it on Sat at her evening autograph signing, but no pictures since she was only in the back behind the stage signing on Sat.

wish they would continue .....

we started watching SG again..the later shows...it's like
watching the geriatric gang...no offense really.....
we just much prefer SGA ..... sigh.

You know.. Todd-the wraith--is a cool and funny wraith...we enjoyed shows with him...

Can't wait to see the movie at least....

Glad you enjoyed the pics! Yea, she wears a wig. Don't know why they made her do so though! It was neat meeting her. She's very sweet and quiet in person. And yea, I'm super bummed about SGA being cancelled too :(

Wow! Thank you! I never knew! .. you can't tell!
I thought it was her real hair...just maybe dyed because of the character or writer/director..etc..
I just noticed it tonight..her hair texture being different..

Do they do the panels alot in CA?... I've seen some on youtube..and some are really funny....with Ronon-Jason Momoa,Rodney-David H., Dr.Beckett, and even with Tealc..
and I didn't know until then that Daniel Jackson guy married
Andromeda girl and that she is in SG!!.... Wow!

Iam going to miss SGA so much!... :-(

Stargate Universe better be good.... otherwise..what's the point in cancelling SGA!?... hmph...!

There are cons all over - Creation has done 4? this year: Vancouver, Chicago, NJ and Burbank. Plus the actors often hit other cons - David H. was just in New Zealand and Austrailia. J. Flanigan often hits the Austrailia cons (for the surfing). Plus, the network has had them at Comic Con in SD.

She's so much more warm and animated as herself than she usually gets to be with Teyla. Like I used to with Torri, I wish TPTB would let more of that side of her out on the show itself ...

glad you liked the pics. Yea, she laughed a lot, and sang, and smiled. She's very friendly in person. But she was very 'zen' about the cancelation, like we were all more upset about it than she was, which was strange.

Well, I keep thinking about something David said right after the cancellation was announced, to the effect that he's not too broken up about it because it's just the nature of the acting business; the jobs are by their nature short-term, and the actors all knew it. It's not like a job where you expect to keep it for years and years. So, yeah ... I imagine that they're probably disappointed that they didn't get another season, but I imagine they were all braced for the possibility all along.

Rachel might also be relieved to have time off to spend with her baby, too. :)
